From the Museum Collection

The first “modern” personal computer to be sold to the public was the Apple Lisa.

Modeled after high-end workstations at Xerox’s Palo Alto Research Center, the Lisa featured the first commercially available computer "desktop" - a graphical user interface which included a mouse to activate commands.

Although priced at $10,000 and soon replaced by the more affordable Macintosh, the Lisa set a standard for personal computers that still stands today.
