Even after the wide availability of fully assembled home computers in the late 1970s, kit computers remained popular among hobbyists who wanted to build their own computer, either to save money or for the sheer joy of it. Among the more popular of this second generation of kit computers were the Commodore KIM-I and the RCA Cosmac Elf.
